Why I Created Campus Maven
A conversation with one of my friends back in September of my Senior year completely altered my college search process. He just started his Freshman year at Duke University and was raving about the campus, the culture, and the opportunities. At that time, Duke wasn’t super high on my list, but that conversation set me on the path of becoming a life-long Blue Devil.
As my college experience played out, I came to the realize the influence of those words and see that the most valuable thing a prospective student could have during a college visit was insights to someone who genuinely lived the experience they were imagining for themselves. Someone with similar interests, goals, and concerns not too long ago.
So I started Campus Maven to connect prospective students with current university students who just wen through the process themselves, creating private, personalized tours that go beyond what any official campus visit could offer. We are starting with a small group of universities and a simple belief that the college search process deserved something better. That belief is still at the heart of everything we do.

A Different Kind of Campus Visit
Campus Maven offers private campus experience built around one idea: the most valuable perspective on any college campus belongs to the students who live there every day. Our Mavens (tour guides) work with prospective students and their families to create private, personalized tours led by current university students whose academic interests and campus involvement closely mirror their own.
When you book with Campus Maven, you are not joining a group to follow a fixed route. You are booking a private, one-on-one experience designed entirely around you.
Before your tour begins, we take time to understand who you are — what you want to study, what activities matter to you, what questions you have been carrying around for months. We then match you with a Maven whose experience reflects yours as closely as possible.
From there, your Maven takes it from there. They plan a tour that is specific to your interests, take you to corners of campus most visitors never see, and spend the time getting to know you well enough to give you genuinely useful perspective. It is a more personal, more honest, and more meaningful way to experience a campus — and for most families, it changes the way they think about the college search entirely.

They sit on student government, lead research projects, captain club sports teams, run campus organizations, and navigate the full academic and social experience that prospective students are trying to imagine for themselves.
